The Christian life is not meant to be lived alone. While Sunday mornings can be a great way to know Christ, grow in the Lord, meet new people and serve the Body of Christ in a larger worship setting, we believe that “Dinner for Eight” groups offer the space to connect and experience deeper times of fellowship. They offer a more relaxed, casual setting with other church attenders. If you are new to Greece Assembly, or have been coming here for a while, we encourage you to explore joining a "Dinner for Eight" Group.
In Scripture we are instructed to gather together, break bread together, encourage one another and be together in community (Acts 20:7; Hebrews 10:24-25; Matthew 18:20). “Dinner for Eight” provides the opportunity to build meaningful and long-lasting relationships, by spending time around the table - eating and sharing together in a casual and relaxed atmosphere.
How It Works…
Groups of eight people meet once a month for four months. The groups will begin in May and meet through August. The idea is to get to know new people and deepen existing relationships.
Each group will meet monthly for dinner and determine the time and place of their meeting…in a home, a restaurant, at a park...whatever works best for the group. You can cook, order in, eat out, or have a potluck!
Is it a Bible Study?
Great question! This is simply a time for fellowship with other church family members. If the conversation takes you back to Sunday’s sermon, wonderful, but there are no preconceived expectations for this to happen.
- Register (online or in a foyer)
- Groups will be formed by the Coordination Team and each group will have a designated facilitator.
- The Coordination Team will email each group member with the details of their group.
- The group facilitator will contact you to schedule the first dinner.
Are There Specialized Groups?
Great question! Groups will be mixed...young adults, single adults, widows or widowers, and married couples.
Do You Have to Host?
Great question! This is not a registration requirement. For various reasons, everyone who registers might not be able to host a dinner, and that is perfectly okay! The group facilitator will have this information in advance and will adjust accordingly.
What About Childcare?
Every registrant is responsible to arrange their own childcare.
