Journey through THE GOSPELS

This year, as a church family, we will embark on a journey with Jesus by reading through the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

Why did God give us four Gospels? To give a more complete picture of Christ. While the entire Bible is inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16), He used human authors with different backgrounds and personalities to accomplish His purposes through their writing. Each Gospel author had a distinct purpose behind their gospel, which lead them to emphasize different aspects of the person and ministry of Jesus Christ.

If you want to hear from Jesus, to know Him, to see Him—look no further than the four Gospels. Ask the Holy Spirit to grant you understanding to open your spiritual eyes to see Him in both the Old and New Testaments. The Bible is no ordinary book, nor just words on a page, this is God’s living Word and He appears to us through His Word. The Bible is one story about Jesus.

In 2025, set apart the year and commit to knowing Jesus, growing in Jesus, serving Jesus, and sharing Jesus with others through the reading of the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Discover through the teaching ministry of the Holy Spirit that what is hidden in the Old Testament is revealed in the New Testament through Christ’s life, ministry, death, resurrection, and ascension into heaven.

Like Mary, let’s purpose to sit at the feet of Jesus (Luke 10:38-42). Jesus said to Mary’s sister, Martha, “But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her” (Luke 10:42).

Mary sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His Word.

Our "Year With Jesus" booklet is a daily reading plan through the four Gospels in one year.  Pray that what is revealed to you will be more than informational, pray that it be transformational. Extra copies of the reading plan are available in the north and south foyers. To help you with your GOSPEL Reading Journey

  • Be intentional in your choice regarding the place and time of day you read. It will be helpful to eliminate any potential distractions in advance.

  • Be prayerful each day before you start your reading. Ask the Holy Spirit for understanding, and to speak to your heart.

  • Be journaling what the Lord spoke to your heart. Every time we read God’s Word He is speaking to us.

  • Be disciplined to apply the practical application.

  • Be committed after each day’s reading to take time to praise God, thanking Him for His Word.

  • Be surrounded by supportive people. Share about what the Lord is speaking to you. Talk with others about the wonder of God’s Word.

  • Be determined to stay the course. If you miss a day, don’t get discouraged. Give yourself grace and ask the Lord to help you refocus.
