OUR STORY

In the fall of 1964 a small group of believers met to discuss the establishing of a full gospel church in the town of Greece. Soon there after Greece Assembly of God was birthed. Earl and Angie Moore were the founding members. In January of 1965 the first service was held at the rented Greece Grange Hall. In August of the same year 2.3 acres of land was made available to the church on Kuhn Road.

The church was incorporated in September 1965 and construction for the new church began in May of 1968. The first service was held in the new building in December of 1968 with the capacity to seat 150 people. In May of 1972 the Rev. Carley M. Touchstone arrived to assume pastoral duties to a small congregation of 25 persons. To accommodate an increasingly growing congregation, the church begins to build an addition in 1976 which consisted of a new auditorium and fellowship hall. In May of 1977 the congregation moved into the new building. In April of 1981 two Sunday School and two worship services were being conducted each Lord's day to meet the worship needs of a growing church.

The church purchased property on Long Pond Road in the spring of 1982 with the goal of relocating the church to a much larger facility with a vision to reach the growing city with the Gospel. The Lord had given them this verse and promise, "Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: space not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes: For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left" Isaiah 54:2-3. In 1985 the move from Kuhn Road to Long Pond Road was completed.

In April of 1995 Patrick Medeiros was installed as the new senior pastor after serving 9 years as the youth pastor of Greece Assembly and continues to serve the body of Christ in this capacity.
